Behind the scenes

PORTRAITS ‣ For a portrait brooche, I first draw you - in a live performance - in black ink. The best portrait will be transformed in gold. I always ask clients for old jewellery pieces, recycling is better for the environment and adds emotional value. ▾

BIG HEART ‣ Necklace with a heavy silver heart for a woman who suddenly lost her husband. She drew sheets full of hearts. I've cut the chosen drawing in wax. A harness of chains encloses the heart so she can take the heart apart from the necklace to lay it on the empty pillow next to her. A black diamond locks the heart. ▾

LUNA ‣ He wanted to surprise his wife - a real cat lover - with a big fat 18ct cocktail ring. The puss had to sit like a sfinx. I decided to make a ALL SHE LOVES-ring and asked him to pose for a 1 cm man on top of the sphinx. She preferred to stick to the cat though and asked for bright green eyes (diamonds). ▾

WILD IS THE WIND ‣ Sketch and process of 'Wild is the Wind' chandelier earrings, which I'd initially designed for myself. When my fellow student at Vakschool Schoonhoven saw them, she ordered her pair. Thank you, I'm a fan of your work too, Sandrine Diodati! ▾
