|Introduced in 2009, Tata’s Nano is targeted to 65 million Indians for 100.000 rupies ($2,200), accommodating 5 adults. What makes it so cheap: a two-cylinder engine (max. 70 km/h), no radio/air co/power steering/airbags, extensive use of plastic and a single windscreen wiper. Although the car will improve the poor’s lives, it shall also give a tremendous amount of environmental stress. Concept, development and production will be exhibited at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, New York from February 18 – April 25.
