|I attended the première of Die Dreigroßchenoper, the famous 30’s opera by Bertold Brecht and componist Kurt Weill, directed by Robert Wilson. The stage is beautiful, the choreography hilarious and nice raw music (with funny sound effects). Wilson, a former architect, is heavy on ideas and lighter on emotion: the Otto Dix characters indicate – with exaggerated gestures – emotion rather than expressing felt emotion, just like Brecht meant it to be.
