|A beautiful 70 yr old lady came into the atelier for a special jewel. She lost her husband and now wanted her strength expressed. She asked me to add some of her birthstones. Since she also really liked the beach and the dunes in Bergen, I’ve soldered 3 layers of gold marram grass, waving in the same direction, as a symbol of her resilience. Materials 18ct gold, sapphires
|Modern charm bracelet for a Californian girl finishing her Master CPA (Certified Public Accountant) this week at SMU in Texas. Together with her mom, I searched for metaphors and mixed them in Illustrator. At Facebook a great laser engraver introduced himself, he was the only one in The Netherlands able to make the background 0.3 mm lower with a matt finish on large silver plates. The delicate frame is made of recycled gold. Next, the engraved plates had to be amalgamated onto the gold frame, which was impossible with a simple gas burner, so one day before the airplane took off, a micro laser welder did the job. HAPPY! |I’ve turned from graphic designer into goldsmith! This is my final piece for school, which took me months to prepare. The necklace is quite slick, due to the school’s objectives. The leaves of the clovers are casted separately in sand, as were the lips, the daffodil, and the little balls for the lock. After soldering (and adding a black diamond), all polished over & over again. Originally, all pieces were made in 1st grade silver. I decided to have everything covered in 18k gold, which turned out so cheap-looking, so I lacquered the pieces that should stay gold and rhodium-dipped the rest. I’m happy. I design in gold!
This is the end of The Motor; my new company will be called: NARCIS & GOLDMUND
