|At the Design Indaba in Capetown Dai Fujiwara (Issey Miyake) talked about exploring colour in the Amazon in search of REAL green. Japanese black boxes were filled with hundreds of woody, green and skin coloured pieces of textile. “If I say the Amazon, I already kind of see it in my head. But I did not want to use that preconceived image. So, my team and I took a plane to the jungle to search and search and find colour there. I thought we would see these very strong tones, but during the rain season everything was so subtle and beautiful. Leaves speak, they sing a song.” At the end, eight hues were chosen for the soft and futuristic Spring 2009 collection.
